Economic and Environmental Assessment of Two Different Rain Water Harvesting Systems for Agriculture

Increasing aridity and subsequent water scarcity are currently among the major problems of agriculture. Rainwater harvesting could represent a way to tackle this issue, and, as consequence, scientific research has been more focused on such topic. On other hand, few studies related economic environmental assessment rainwater systems in agriculture available. The present study carried out an analysis two different for harvesting: typical pond innovative flexible storage system (FWSS). performance was compared using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Costing (LCC) methodologies, referring functional unit (FU) 1 m3 storable water. FWSS showed better end than system, resulting with both lower impacts (17.04 g per CO2vs 28.2 CO2) costs (16.94 € m3vs 20.41 m3). Moreover, impactful all 17 categories investigated. Therefore, can be suitable solution sector, showing interesting features farmers.
